USAF Technical Sergeant Jeffrey Lee
Technical Sergeant Jeffrey Lee enlisted in the US Air Force in 1988, citing family tradition and a lifelong interest in serving in the military. TSgt. Lee served in the Persian Gulf and the Philippines, and was stationed at George AFB (California), Wurtsmith AFB (Michigan), and Tyndall AFB (Florida) before leaving the service in 1995.
He was in the National Guard for two years, while serving as a civilian police officer in Memphis, Tennessee, before resuming his military career as a weapons loader at Ellsworth, AFB (South Dakota) in 2001. The following year, he retrained as a load master on a C-17 out of Charleston (South Carolina). He flew numerous missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
He was transferred to Travis AFB (California) in 2006 to open the new C-17 outfit. Not long thereafter, TSgt. Lee suffered a stroke that grounded him. He continued to serve as a paralegal at Barksdale AFB (Louisiana). He was honorably retired from the Air Force in 2009 after a blood clot formed in his left leg. TSgt. Lee served over 14 years in the military.
He has been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder with major depression and anxiety, migraines, restless leg syndrome, mild cognitive impairment, arthritis (back and knees), lymphedema, rheumatoid arthritis, nerve damage, carpal tunnel release, and sleep apnea.
TSgt. Lee earned the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Aerial Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device (two oak leaf clusters), Combat Readiness Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with one service star, SW Asia Service Medal with service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and more.
TSgt. Lee, and his wife and daughter, would like to reside in Lake Placid, Florida.
