On Friday, September 27, 2013 Hard Rock Café of Destin hosted a fundraiser to benefit Building Homes for Heroes. The event raised money to help provide a local wounded veteran, Air Force Master Sgt. Joseph Deslauriers and his family with a new home. Attendees enjoyed food by Hard Rock Café, music by the band Continuum, a silent auction and raffle prizes.
USAF Tech. Sgt. Daniel Beesting joined the Air Force in February of 2002, just months after the September 11, 2001 attacks. He served the country from 2001 to August of 2011. His unit first deployed to Iraq in 2004. Tech. Sgt. Beesting spent a lot of time with Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
Army Sergeant Ernso Auguste was wounded in March of 2005 in Iraq while guarding a location occupied by Army military officers and Iraqi officials who were in a meeting. Auguste and others were guarding the building’s perimeter and checkpoints when a vehicle sped toward them and exploded. Auguste’s initial injuries included severe rinfing in his ears, confusion, and severe feet and back pain. He was taken to a Combat Support Hospital for treatment.
Army Sergeant Trevor Bishop joined the U.S. military because he wanted to be part of something bigger than himself. He also wanted to make a difference in the world by helping people.
