Purple Heart vet welcomed home on April 28

U.S. Army Staff Sergeant David Walker, his wife Shoniquantia, and their children were welcomed into their new, mortgage-free home in Lehigh Acres, Florida, gifted by Building Homes for Heroes and Chase on Thursday, April 28th.

Having served more than 12 years in the military, Staff Sergeant Walker was injured while on a routine morning patrol in June of 2006 when his vehicle was ambushed by grenade fire. The explosion killed one soldier and severely injured Staff Sergeant Walker.

His injuries resulted in the amputation of his left arm, burns on his right forearm and facial numbness.

For his service to his country, Staff Sergeant Walker was awarded the Purple Heart, among several other medals and commendations.

Congratulations to the Walker family and thank you for your service!
