Building Homes for Heroes held a golf outing at the Battleground Country Club in Manalapan, NJ on July 17, 2008. The event was a tremendous success, raising nearly $23,000 to support severely wounded men and women of the United States Military. Among those in attendance were Retired Army Corporal J.R. Martinez, Army Staff Sergeant Josh Forbess, Sergeant Mary Herrera – Arizona Army National Guard, and Spc. Robert "B.J." Jackson – Iowa Army National Guard. All serve as inspirations to other wounded service members and to the general public. Each spent a moment sharing the story of the day they were injured.

This outing was our first golf event held in the state of New Jersey! Appropriately so, Building Homes for Heroes would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jason Evanchik and Barbara Souffront, and their wonderful families for all they did to make the day so special. Building Homes for Heroes would also like to thank all the volunteers for their exemplary support and assistance in making the Battleground event a superb success story. It is the compassion and hospitality of those that volunteer their time that will ensure the fulfillment of a dream of one of our nation’s heroes.
